Lightway Medical Foundation was formed by Steve Wilson in 2014. Steve and his wife Diane served in Hospital Vozandes del Oriente (HVO) from 2009 – 2012, much of that time with Steve as Administrator. HVO was formed in 1958 under HCJB World Radio, now known as Reach Beyond, and served the medical needs of the people of the Pastaza province of Ecuador until it was closed in 2013. A new Ecuadorian foundation was formed by Dr. Eckehart Wolff, who served for over 20 years at HVO.
In June 2016, the new foundation is starting a new clinic in Shell in the old hospital building that closed in 2013. The name was initially “Hospital Basico del Oriente”, however as been changed to just “Hospital Shell” or “Hospital del dia”. Lightway Medical will form a vital link between people in the US, and the new venture in Shell.
